Highlighted Review: Lethal Range A Matthew Redd Thriller

Matt Redd is working for the FBI in Spain. After initiating an unauthorized raid on a house he is sent home. When Redd returns home he finds out his wife and son had been harassed by a dangerous biker gang. And when he finds out they were able to get close enough to his son to make him sick, Matt Redd brings the fight to them. Along the way he discovers he is actually fighting an old foe who has aligned with the dangerous biker gang.

Ryan Steck aka The Real Book Spy (go check out his site https://therealbookspy.com/ ) is quickly becoming one of the best in the Christian Thriller Genres. while his first book in my opinion had some language that some of my readers may not want to see in a CIA book, it still was an exceptional read. You can read my review of that here. Steck packs Lethal Range with action from the start to the end. His action scenes are on pare with the best like Joel C Rosenberg and Jack Carr (not a CIA author).

I like that he sprinkles Redd’s faith through out the book something we really didn’t see in the first book. I’m a firm believer that we as Christians should be an influence on society and we can’t do that if we are always preachy which Steck is not. One of the other aspects I enjoyed about Lethal Range is one point in the book Matt Redd’s wife is the one who saves him. I’m not sure I’ve read another book where the wife saves the husband but it is such a metaphor for the men, especially men of faith. Often times and too often in my opinion it is the wife who has to lead her husband to Christ when we were designed to do the opposite. Ryan sets a good example for future CIA authors.
